In its original form (A) quinacridone burnt orange, an organic pigment, is transparent. For ease of comparison, all the opacity techniques that follow are based on this color.
When applied thickly (B), organic pigments can become dark and acquire good covering power.
Adding titanium white (C) not only makes the orange more opaque, but also lightens its tone. To keep the chroma bright, use a very small amount of the white.
Adding an opaque color, in this case, burnt sienna (D), creates a hybrid color with some characteristics of each paint in the mixture.
Mixing matte gel into your paint (E) increases the opacity slightly.
Mixing molding paste into your paint (F) increases the opacity to a greater degree than you get with matte gel.
